ASHANTI GLASS BEADS IN SALMON
These glass beads are a great way to add natural texture to your space. Layer them with other beads or let them make a statement all on their own. They look best hanging from a vase or draped over your favorite coffee table books.
Measurements: approximately 12" long
Materials: Molded + hand polished recycled glass, cotton + raffia string
Colors: Salmon
Sustainable Practices: Pulverized glass of various colors is poured into a clay mold, using a cassava stem for the bead's hole. The mold is placed in a kiln for heating until the glass particles congeal without actually melting and the stem burns out. The beads are then hand polished in a mixture of sand and water. This process is unique to Africa and has been used for over a century by the Ashanti people of South-central Ghana.
